Mane event: The Southampton star is willing to wait until the close-season to move
Manchester United have FAILED with a fresh attempt to sign Sadio Mane.
Southampton rejected a new approach from the Old Trafford giants, who are desperate to sign the 23-year-old Senegal forward in this current winter transfer window.
Saints told them he is not for sale – and have also made it clear to Mane that he is staying put until at least the end of this season.
It is a major blow for United, as they hoped to get a £30million deal done — especially with Chelsea and Bayern Munich now also interested.
Despite Mane making it clear that he will not sign a new contract, Southampton are determined to stand firm.
Mane was left out of the starting XI at Norwich on Saturday after turning up late for a team meeting, and that plunged his future into doubt amid United’s interest.
The Red Devils were keen for the former Red Bull Salzburg star to push for a transfer now but will have to wait until the end of the season, when it is likely to be a three-way fight with Chelsea and Bayern.
Mane is understood to be relaxed about the situation, willing to wait and believes he will move in the summer window.
Southampton have also told Arsenal that Victor Wanyama is not for sale now.
